In addition to the numerous ways Chesser & Barr, P.A. gives back to the community, one of the firm’s very own is giving back to soon-to-be mothers and their families. As Chairperson of Okaloosa-Walton Counties’ Healthy Start Coalition, Attorney J. Michael Hamby of Chesser & Barr, P.A. helps to provide education, resources, and psychosocial support for mothers and their families. The coalition is an association of local care providers, businesses, and consumers.
As part of the coalition’s continuous efforts to ensure that mothers-to-be and newborns are on the right track for a healthy life, they will be hosting their annual World’s Greatest Baby Shower from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 at the Okaloosa County Conference Center. According to an article authored by Attorney Hamby, the event is one of the coalitions exciting and informative – new and expecting parents are given the opportunity to learn about Healthy Start Coalition and commit to a healthy lifestyle.
Helping New Families Live Healthier Lives
Having and raising a child, especially for first-time mothers, can seem like an overwhelming and daunting task. Knowledge is power at Healthy Start Coalition, which is why the association equips expecting mothers and their families with information on healthy eating, prenatal care providers, car seat safety, and parenting support. The board of directors, Attorney Hamby included, actively works to support the coalition’s mission and stay up to date on the latest developments in the ever-changing environment of parenting.
Attorney Hamby’s involvement with Healthy Start Coalition is just one of the ways the legal team at Chesser & Barr, P.A. constantly strives to give back to the community. Attorney Hamby is passionate about community involvement – he has experience in volunteering as an English tutor, computer literacy tutor, and as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer laborer after Hurricane Katrina.
